Wisconsin State Parks Pet Policy: Pets are allowed in Wisconsin State Parks, but must be kept on a leash no longer than 8 feet at all times. Pets are permitted in most campgrounds, trails, roads, and outlying areas of the parks. Pets are not allowed in the following places: buildings and picnic shelters; picnic areas, except designated pet picnic areas; beaches, except designated pet swim areas; playgrounds; marked nature trails; cross-country ski trails when groomed for skiing; observation towers; indoor group camps and related facilities; designated “pet-free areas” identified at properties, including the quiet area at Loop 1 of the Pinewoods Campground in the Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest; and anywhere in Copper Culture State Park, Heritage Hill State Park, and Hoffman Hills State Recreation Area.
The following state parks and forests have designated pet swim or picnic areas: Bigfoot Beach State Park; Brunet Island State Park; Buckhorn State Park; Copper Falls State Park; Council Grounds State Park; Devil’s Lake State Park; Flambeau River State Forest; Governor Dodge State Park; Governor Earl Peshtigo River State Forest; Governor Nelson State Park; Governor Thompson State Park; Harrington Beach State Park; Hartman Creek State Park; High Cliff State Park; Interstate State Park; Kettle Moraine State Forest Southern Unit; Kohler-Andrae State Park; Lake Wissota State Park; Lake Kegonsa State Park; Northern Highland American Legion State Forest; Pattison State Park; Peninsula State Park; Pike Lake Unit – Kettle Moraine State Forest; Point Beach State Forest; Richard Bong State Recreation Area; Whitefish Dunes State Par; and Willow River State Park.
