U.S. State Parks – Pet Policies

Many pet friendly state parks in the U.S. offer just as much, if not more, than dedicated national parks — often with fewer people and for less money. Pets are permitted in most state parks but must be on a leash not exceeding six feet in length at all times. Some state parks offer camping cabins for visitors with pets who want to stay overnight.

U.S. State Forests – Pet Policies

Thirty-eight of the U.S.’s 50 states have state forests, as does one territory, Puerto Rico. Pets are allowed in all state forests, but must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times while in developed recreation areas.
