Virginia State Parks Pet Policy: Pets are allowed in all Virginia State Parks, but must be confined or kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times. Pets are not permitted at designated swim areas and in public facilities (bathhouses, visitor centers, park offices, restaurants, etc.). All beaches that are classified as “swimming beaches” do not allow dogs. If it is a lake or body of water that is completely contained within the park, then no swimming is allowed. Shorelines that are not swimming beaches allow swimming by dogs. While pets are allowed at False Cape State Park, they are not permitted access through Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Dogs are allowed to stay in all cabins at Virginia State Parks. There is an additional nightly charge per pet for cabin.
