Mission Point Lighthouse & Park is located at the end of the Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, MI. The park preserves the very tip of the peninsula and is home to the historic Mission Point Lighthouse. Operating under the supervision of Peninsula Township, with the assistance of the non-profit group Mission Point Lighthouse Friends, the lighthouse is surrounded by five acres of wooded Township land and hundreds of acres of State land, all with miles of trails. From spectacular views of the beach to deep forest trails, the park has something to offer for everyone. Facilities include: Cross-country ski, biking, and hiking/walking trails; handicapped beach access; historic lighthouse; historic log home building; handicapped toilet; swimming area; on-site parking. The lighthouse is closed to the public from December through April, but the park, beach and trails are open year-round. Dogs are allowed off-leash on the beach and trails, if under control. No dogs are allowed inside the lighthouse.
