Dispersed and Primitive tent camping within the Huron-Manistee National Forest is allowed almost anywhere, unless otherwise posted closed and/or “No Camping”. Most campgrounds have drinking water. No RV hook-ups are available for water, sewage or electric at any campground. Dogs on leash are allowed in the forest. Dogs are not allowed on designated swimming beaches, and in the spring there may be some areas closed to dogs for the protection of Threatened and Endangered Species. Camping with horses is available at four campgrounds along the Shore to Shore Trail, one campground at Marzinski Horse Trail and one campground at Hungerford Recreation Area.
