Dogs are allowed in the Haleakalā National Park Campground, but must be leashed at all times. Dogs are permitted in parking lots and drive-up campgrounds and on roadways and paved pathways only. There is one car accessible campground: Hosmer Grove Campground located just past the entrance gate of the park. Hosmer Grove is on the way to the summit, high on the windy slopes of Haleakalā. Six designated sites are located in an open, grassy area near the forest and shrubland of Hosmer Grove. Each site has a picnic table, grill, and access to potable water. The campground has pit toilets located in the parking lot. Campers who obtain a reservation to camp at Hosmer Grove campground also receive a reservation to view sunrise the morning after camping.
