Located at 60 Compo Beach Road, Westport CT 06880, Compo Beach is a 29 acre park with an extensive sand beach along the shore of Long Island Sound and borders the Saugatuck River. It is handicapped accessible with a boardwalk, pavilion, concession stand, two sand volleyball courts, large wooden playscape, bathroom facilities and lockers, and is adjacent to the Ned Dimes Marina. From April 1 to Sept. 30 animals are prohibited at the beach either in or out of vehicles except when going to and from boats at Ned Dimes Marina. From Oct. 1 to March 31 dogs are allowed off-leash at Compo Beach in the area of the beach south of the brick bathhouses delineated by a rail fence and signs and including the south beach area. Dogs are prohibited from the Pavilion, playground and walkways. All dogs must also be leashed in all areas except the designated off leash area which is on the left hand side of the beach near the cannons. Off leash regulations are posted at the entrance to the off leash area. Animals are not permitted in the covered pavilion area of the beach, on the boardwalks or in the area between the boardwalks and the exit road (including playground and volleyball courts) at any time.
