OFF-LEASH DOG BEACH. Located at 9791 Lakeshore Drive N, West Olive, MI 49460, Kirk Park Dog Beach stretches along Lake Michigan’s shoreline for over 1/3 mile. This park boasts 68 acres of sandy beach, high bluffs and wooded dunes. There is an off-leash beach at the southernmost area of the park, accessible from the south beach stairs. From May 1 to September 30, dogs are allowed off-leash during all hours of park operation on the south beach area; dogs are not allowed on the north end of the beach. Dogs are permitted on-leash, on the park trails. During the rest of the year, from October 1 – April 30, dogs are permitted on Kirk Park north and south beach off-leash; they must remain leashed on-trail. If dogs are not at the dog beach, they are required to be on a leash no longer than 10 feet and under control at all times. This includes walking to and from the beach. Dogs are not permitted in park buildings, restrooms, picnic shelters, playground areas, off-trail, or as posted. Directions: From Lake Michigan Drive, also known as M-45, travel south on Lakeshore Drive to the entrance.
