Located between Belfast and Bucksport on Coastal US 1, Sandy Point Beach is a half-mile long, sandy/gravelly public beach where the Penobscot River opens up to Penobscot Bay; in a 100 acre public preserve, protected by Land for Maine’s Future. There are no public facilities, no lifeguard, and limited parking. Dogs on a leash are allowed on the beach year round.
