OFF-LEASH DOG BEACH. Located on Route 152 and Ocean Drive Bridge, Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08244, Longport Dog Beach, also known as Malibu Beach or Somers Point Dog Beach, is between Longport and Somers Point, but is actually part of Egg Harbor Township. The area is under the control of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection because the section of the beach closest to dog beach is a nesting area for migratory shore birds. This mile-long stretch of sand located along the foot of the Ocean City-Longport bridge has been designated for dogs year round. Formally known as the Malibu Beach Wildlife Management Area, it is more commonly called “Dog Beach” and is located on Bay Drive, just off of the Longport Causeway in South Jersey. The beach is on the left, just prior to going on the bridge into Ocean City. Dogs are allowed on the beach and beachgoers are expected to clean up after their pets (and themselves). The beach is open daily, year round. Per the Egg Harbor Township Police Department: No parking is permitted on Ocean Drive in the vicinity of “Dog Beach”, the area of beach between Longport and Ocean City.
