OFF-LEASH DOG BEACH. Fiesta Island is a large peninsular park located within Mission Bay. Dogs are allowed on Fiesta Island off leash at any time. The beach doubles as a dog park, with grassy terrain for runners and adventure seekers, while a long strip of beach below the bluff offers calm bay waters for more timid dogs. There are bonfire rings around the shore of the island. In the summer, access to Fiesta Island after 10 p.m. is limited to pedestrians because the gate at the entrance to the island is closed overnight. Dogs are allowed in the park on leash anywhere in Mission Bay Park before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m. Dogs are prohibited from being in the park between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. City Park Rangers and park users ask that dog owners pick up after their dogs. Directions: From Interstate 5, take the Sea World Drive exit and head southwest, then make a right onto East Mission Bay Drive, then turn left to Fiesta Island. There is parking throughout the island.
