Ogunquit Town Beach offers 3.5 miles of white sandy beach. The middle section of Ogunquit Beach is known as Footbridge Beach, because it is accessed by a footbridge that crosses over the Ogunquit River. Lifeguards are on duty in season, and the end of the beach provides ample parking for a small fee, public restrooms, gift shops, a snack bar and restaurants. At the southern end of Ogunquit Beach, the Ogunquit River flows into the ocean by the beach, this makes for a great fresh water spot to float on an inner tube or raft on a warm summer day. Dogs on a leash are allowed on the beach area only during the off-season, from September 9th to March 31st. Dogs on a leash are allowed on the Marginal Way from October 1st to March 31st. Dogs are not permitted in the Ogunquit River Estuary at any time.
