Holden Beach Town Beach, in southern Brunswick County, is situated on an 8-mile-long barrier island on the Atlantic Ocean, bounded by Shallotte Inlet to the west, Lockwoods Folly Inlet to the east, and the Intracoastal Waterway to the north. Approximately 35 minutes south of Wilmington, NC and 30 minutes north of Myrtle Beach, SC. From May 20th to September 10th, dogs on a leash are only allowed on the beach before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m. daily. Dogs must be on a leash at all times on the island.
