Located at 110 State Highway 180, Gulf Shores, AL 36542, Fort Morgan State Historic Site is a historic masonry pentagonal bastion fort at the mouth of Mobile Bay, Alabama, at the end of scenic Fort Morgan Peninsula. Operated by the Alabama Historical Commission, the site also has nature areas, a boat launch, picnic area, and beaches for visitors to enjoy. Admission is required for all activities (beach access, fishing, fort tours, birding, etc.). Dogs are welcome at the site. Pet access on Bayside Beach only and leash is required at all times. Dogs on a leash are allowed at a designated area on the Mobile bay side beach from the Old Fort Morgan Pier all the way to the Old Fisherman’s Wharf. Beyond the Old Fisherman’s Wharf is a Federal Wildlife area where dogs are not permitted.
