Gloucester City Beaches allow dogs on the beach during certain times of year:
Good Harbor Beach (on Thatcher Road/Route 127A) – Dogs are not allowed on Good Harbor Beach from April 1 to September 30 annually. Unleashed dogs are allowed on Good Harbor Beach from October 1 to March 31; off leash on even-numbered days of the month.
Half Moon Beach (in historic Stage Fort Park) – Dogs are not allowed from May 1 to September 30 annually; dogs are allowed from October 1 to April 30 annually, under the control of the owner or keeper.
Niles Beach (on Eastern Point Road in East Gloucester) – Dogs are not allowed from May 1 to September 30 annually; dogs are allowed from October 1 to April 30 annually, under the control of the owner or keeper.
Cressy’s Beach (at the lower end of Historic Stage Fort Park) – Unleashed dogs are allowed on Cressy’s Beach in the off-season, from October 1 to April 30 annually.
Pavilion Beach (on the Eastern end of Stacy Boulevard in the area known as “The Fort”) – Dogs are not allowed from May 1 to September 30 annually; dogs are allowed from October 1 to April 30 annually, under the control of the owner or keeper.
Plum Cove Beach (on Washington Street in the northern section of the city) – Unleashed dogs are allowed on Plum Cove Beach in the off-season, from October 1 to April 30 annually.
Wingaersheek Beach (in the western part of Gloucester at the end of Atlantic Street off Route 133 and Concord Street) – Dogs are not allowed on Wingaersheek Beach from May 1—September 30 annually. Unleashed dogs are allowed on Wingaersheek Beach from October 1 to April 30; off leash on odd-numbered days of the month.
Crab Beach (on Western Avenue) – Leashed or unleashed dogs allowed at all times as long as they remain under the control of their owner or keeper and off-leash at all times subject to the enumerated conditions contained in section 4-16a.
