Emerald Isle Beaches are located on Bogue Banks Island, a barrier island off the mainland of North Carolina, part of North Carolina’s Crystal Coast. The island, separated from the mainland by Bogue Sound, runs east to west, with the ocean beaches facing due south. The town of Emerald Isle’s oceanfront and soundside public accesses and parks offer a wealth of amenities, from picnic pavilions, boat and kayak launches, to volleyball courts and playgrounds. Dogs are allowed on the beach strand year-round, but must be kept on a leash at all times. Horseback riding is allowed on the beach between September 15 and April 30 only (closed to horseback riding during Easter week). Horseback riders should use the beach vehicle access ramps to access the beach.
