OFF-LEASH DOG BEACH. Dewey Beach Town Beach is one of the very few beaches on the eastern seaboard to permit dogs. While dogs may be unleashed on the beach, they must remain under the control of their owner. From the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend through the Sunday following Labor Day, dogs are only permitted on the beach before 9:30 a.m and after 5:30 p.m. During the rest of the year, dogs are allowed on the beach at any time. Dogs are permitted on the bay beach during the summer season when lifeguards are not on duty. All dogs in Dewey Beach must be licensed with the town. Dog licenses are available to be purchased online, at Dewey Beach Town Hall, or at the automated kiosk at the Town Hall parking lot entrance (temporary licenses only). at Dewey Beach Town Hall.
