Located in Westmoreland County in the Northern Neck of Virginia, Potomac River Beach is part of the George Washington Birthplace National Monument. Access to the beach is through grass with a slight downwards slope. Tides can erode the transition from the grass to the sand to form a drop off. No restrooms, no water, no seating. Canoes and kayaks may be launched from the beach as it is the only designated area for such activity in the park. Dogs on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed on the beach.
