Located at 8300 Desoto Memorial Hwy, Bradenton, FL 34209, De Soto National Memorial includes 26 acres where the Manatee River joins Tampa Bay. It has 3,000 feet of coastline; eighty percent of the area is mangrove swamp. There are several small beaches within the park. Located west of De Soto Point and northwest of the Visitor Center, the De Soto Point Beach is exposed to the current of the Manatee River and the waves of Tampa Bay. The Cove Beach, on the south side of De Soto Point, is more popular because it is sheltered from most current and waves. No life guards are on duty. Dogs on a leash are allowed on the beach.
