OFF-LEASH DOG BEACH. Located at 8th Ave & Ocean Ave, Asbury Park, NJ 07712, Asbury Park Dog Beach aka 8th Avenue Dog Beach runs from the Deal Lake Drive beach entrance north to the Fisherman’s Parking lot beach entrance. It is a municipally sanctioned portion of the city beach where dogs are allowed to run off leash and swim during the off-season, from September 15th to May 15th. During the summer season (May 16th to September 14th) dogs are only allowed on the dog beach north of of 8th Ave. between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. Dogs must be off the beach by 8:30 a.m. Dogs may be off leash on the beach if properly supervised. Dogs are not permitted on any portion of Asbury Park beaches other than the Dog Beach at any time. Dogs are not permitted on the Boardwalk from May 16 to September 14. During the off-season (from September 15 through May 15) dogs that are licensed, supervised, and leashed are welcome on the Boardwalk at all times. From September 15 through May 15 dogs that are licensed and supervised are allowed on the beach at all times. Dogs may be off leash on the beach if properly supervised. Use the Deal Lake Drive entrance or the entrance at the north end of Fisherman’s Parking Lot to access the Dog Beach – do not use the 8th Avenue entrance from the Boardwalk.
