The Finnair pet policy is as follows:
Small pets, including cats, small dogs, pet rabbits, tortoises and hedgehogs, can travel with you in the cabin on Finnnair flights, given that the total weight of the pet and the pet carrier does not exceed 8 kg (17 lb).
Pets cannot travel in Business Class on intercontinental flights, since there is not enough room under the full-flat seats.
Bigger pets that cannot travel in the cabin may travel in the hold of the aircraft on the same flight with you. However, if your pet and its container weigh over 50 kg (110 lb), the pet can only be shipped as cargo.
You can ship your pet as cargo with Finnair Cargo.
Animal shipments are generally not available within Finland as no special cargo is allowed on domestic flights.
When travelling to or via certain countries, you can only ship pets as cargo, meaning that your pet is not travelling with you. Such countries are, for example, Great Britain, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates and Australia.
Taking a pet to a foreign country involves preparation and planning far in advance of your departure date. Requirements for pet travel to a foreign country are set by the destination country. If you are you traveling to another country and bringing along your pet you’ll need to meet the animal health requirements of the country you are visiting.
