St. Jo Island, located just north of Port Aransas/Mustang Island, is approximately 28 miles long, less than 2 miles wide at its widest point and is a natural haven for fishermen and beach lovers. The Jetty Boat is a passenger ferry that runs from Fisherman’s Wharf in Port Aransas across the ship channel to St Jo Island. St Josephs is a privately owned island that is only accessible by boat but all beaches in Texas are public property and so is the beach on St Joes. The fishing is excellent, so bring your rods and reels. Dogs on a leash are allowed on the Jetty Boat.
