Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) is the principal public transport operator in the Atlanta metropolitan area. MARTA operates a network of bus routes linked to a rapid transit system consisting of 48 miles of rail track with 38 train stations. MARTA’s rapid transit system operates almost exclusively in Fulton, Clayton, and DeKalb counties, although they maintain bus service to two destinations in neighboring Cobb County (Six Flags Over Georgia and the Cumberland Transfer Center next to the Cumberland Mall). MARTA also operates Mobility, a separate paratransit service for disabled customers. The Atlanta Streetcar is a modern streetcar route that is powered by an overhead line and operates in mixed vehicle traffic. The system was constructed by the City of Atlanta and was integrated into MARTA operations on July 1, 2018. The streetcar operates on a 2.7-mile pinched loop system in Downtown Atlanta. MARTA Pet Policy: Pets may be transported on MARTA trains and buses, provided they are carried aboard in a secure rigid pet carrier with a lock or latch from which it cannot escape. Service animals that assist individuals with disabilities are the only animals permitted to ride unconfined on MARTA trains, streetcars and buses.
Taking a pet to the United States involves preparation and planning far in advance of your departure date. Health certificates may be required for entry into some states; you should check with officials in your state of destination prior to your travel date. Find info on bringing a pet into the U.S.
