Michigan State Parks Pet Policy: Pets are welcome in Michigan State Parks and campgrounds, state forest campgrounds, some state park cabins, state-managed harbors, designated beach and dog swim areas, state-designated trails and boat launches (except for some sites during certain times of the year). Pets must always be on a 6-foot leash and under an owner’s immediate control. Pets are not allowed in designated swim areas, areas protected for endangered species, such as piping plover, and any other area marked otherwise. The following parks have sections of pet-friendly shorelines: Algonac State Park, Baraga State Park, Bewabic State Park, Brighton Recreation Area, Brimley State Park, Burt Lake State Park, Craig Lake State Park, Dodge #4 State Park, Duck Lake State Park, Fayette Historic State Park, Grand Mere State Park, Harrisville State Park, Hoffmaster State Park, Holland State Park, Holly Recreation Area, Leelanau State Park, Ludington State Park, McLain State Park, Mears State Park, Metamora-Hadley Recreation Area, Menominee River State Recreation Area, Muskegon State Park, Negwegon State Park, Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park, Port Crescent State Park, Proud Lake Recreation Area, Rifle River Recreation Area, Saugatuck Dunes State Park, Silver Lake State Park, Sleeper State Park, Sleepy Hollow State Park, South Higgins Lake State Park, Straits State Park, Tawas Point State Park, Twin Lakes State Park, Van Buren State Park, Van Riper State Park, Warren Dunes State Park, Wilderness State Park, and Young State Park.
