OFF-LEASH DOG BEACH. Located at 2981 Cliff Drive, Santa Barbara, CA 93109, Arroyo Burro Beach (Hendry’s Beach) is five miles west of Santa Barbara’s city center on Cliff Drive near Hope Ranch. Park Features: BBQ Grills, Beach Access, Benches or Picnic Tables, Bird Watching, Equestrian Trails, Fishing, Restaurant or Snacks, Restrooms, Surfing, Swimming, seasonal lifeguards. Directions: From Highway 101 take Las Positas Road south to Cliff Drive. Turn right and travel 1/2 mile to the park entrance. This county park is the portal for the best known off-leash spot in the Santa Barbara area. Dogs are required to be on leash through the parking lot and bathing beach until, passing Arroyo Burro Slough, dogs are allowed off-leash below the city’s Douglas Family Preserve. Dogs may also be off-leash on the beach just east of the creek. The leash free area is extensive, and is at the base of a cliff. There is a self-serve dog bathing station in the parking lot.
