Located at 4395 Turkey Point Rd., North East, MD 21901, Elk Neck State Park is in Cecil County on a peninsula, formed by the Chesapeake Bay on the west and the Elk River on the east. The park offers 2,370 acres of sandy beaches, marshlands, and heavily wooded bluffs overlooking the North East River, the Elk River and the Chesapeake Bay. It is divided into four areas: Turkey Point Lighthouse, at the southern tip of the Elk Neck Peninsula; North East Beach Area and Picnic Shelters, in the western portion of the park; Rogues Harbor Boat Launch Facility, offering public boating access to the Elk River; and the Elk River Camping Area, on the eastern portion of the peninsula. The North East Beach Area provides swimming access to the Susquehanna Flats of the Chesapeake Bay. There is also a canoe and kayak hand-launch area, just north of the swim area. The shallow water access is unguarded and the area also features picnic tables, grills and a restroom with cold showers. Dogs on a leash are allowed in all day-use areas, including North East Beach area (except for the sandy portion of swimming beach area from Memorial Day weekend until after Labor Day).
