Located at 376 North County Line Road, Gary, IN 46403, West Beach at Indiana Dunes National Park has 8 covered picnic shelters. Facilities – year-round restrooms and potable water at the parking lot. Seasonal restrooms, potable water, showers, and lockers at the bath house. Seasonal restrooms and potable water at the picnic area. Lifeguards are present from the Friday of Memorial Day through the Monday of Labor Day. Lifeguards are not present at other times of the year. Swim at your own risk. Rip currents and large waves can make swimming hazardous. From the Friday of Memorial Day weekend through the Monday of Labor Day Weekend dogs are not allowed in the lifeguarded swimming area. Dogs on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed on the beach during the rest of the year.
