Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) pet relief areas are located outside the terminals. The designated Service Animal Relief Areas (SARAs) are located outside Terminals 1 and 2. Terminal 1: Curbside, between Baggage Claim 3 and the taxi staging area. Terminal 2: Curbside, lower level-baggage claim, just north of the taxi staging area. By summer 2025 RDU will have two pet relief area post-security, one in each terminal. The SARAs will go in spaces next to Gate C7 in Terminal 2, near the getREEF Virtual Food Hall, and by Gate A7 in Terminal 1, next to Starbucks. The SARA in Terminal 2 will have room for two people and their pets to use at a time, more than twice as large as the one in the smaller Terminal 1. Passengers should contact their airlines for specific policies and fares for transporting pets in cargo or for traveling with a pet or service animal. Passengers should contact TSA for information on security screening for a pet or service animal.
