The WestJet pet policy is as follows:
Small pets – cats, dogs, birds, and rabbits – are accepted in the cabin and as checked baggage on most international flights.
Dogs and cats are not accepted on flights to, from or through Barbados, Hawaii, Ireland, Jamaica, Glasgow or London in carry-on or checked kennel.
Although WestJet accepts pets other than cats and dogs, other animal types (species) may not be permitted or may have additional entrance requirements for other countries.
Certain restrictions are applicable for pets traveling in checked baggage due to limited room during heavy holiday travel periods.
Cold weather restrictions apply to pets in checked baggage on certain flights from November 1 to May 31.
Due to extreme heat, on certain flights pets are not accepted in checked baggage annually from May 1 to October 31.
WestJet Cargo accepts pets travelling on their own. If you wish to transport an unaccompanied pet, please contact WestJet Cargo for rates and information at 1-866-952-2746 (1-866-WJCARGO).
Taking a pet to a foreign country involves preparation and planning far in advance of your departure date. Requirements for pet travel to a foreign country are set by the destination country. If you are you traveling to another country and bringing along your pet you’ll need to meet the animal health requirements of the country you are visiting.
