The TAP Air Portugal pet policy is as follows:
Pets can be transported in the cabin or in the hold.
Only dogs and cats can be transported in the cabin.
TAP is unable to carry cats or dogs in the executive cabin on long-haul flights (except assistance dogs on some services).
TAP does not accept reservations to carry brachycephalic animals in the hold (“brachy” meaning short, and “cephalic” meaning head), that is to say, short flat-nosed dogs or cats.
Due to the current situation caused by Covid-19, transport of animals in the hold is limited to direct flights, thus it is not possible to provide this service on journeys with layovers.
Taking a pet to a foreign country involves preparation and planning far in advance of your departure date. Requirements for pet travel to a foreign country are set by the destination country. If you are you traveling to another country and bringing along your pet you’ll need to meet the animal health requirements of the country you are visiting.
