Finding pet friendly campgrounds in Canada is easy with our province-by-province listings of campgrounds and RV camping sites. Camping with your dog in Canada’s majestic outdoors is like no other vacation. Whether you explore the country’s world famous lush forests, sandy beaches or snow-capped mountains there are many campgrounds from which to choose. Canada has thousands of campgrounds, which are divided into four unique camping experiences: Private/Commercial campgrounds and RV parks, Provincial and Territorial Parks campgrounds, Recreation sites (forestry sites), and Parks Canada campgrounds, all of which have their own dog regulations.
Parks Canada Campgrounds (located frontcountry, as well as backcountry) are located inside one of the National Parks of Canada and are owned and operated by Parks Canada. Due to their location inside a Canadian National Park, they are the only campgrounds within the National Park system. Dogs are welcome in Canada’s 46 national parks. However, national park regulations require that dogs must be kept on a leash no longer than 10 feet at all times including in the campground, at the beach and in the water. Some national parks such as Banff and Jasper have fenced, off-leash areas.

Pet-friendly places to stay overnight at Parks Canada
Dogs are welcomed on most Parks Canada sites, but only if they are on a leash less than three meters long, and under control at all times. Staying on-leash is really important not just for your dog’s safety but for the safety and preservation of many of the wildlife species that roam free within Parks spaces too.
Provincial Parks Campgrounds or Territorial Parks Campgrounds (located frontcountry, as well as backcountry) are located inside a Provincial/ Territorial Park and are owned and operated by the specific provincial or territorial government. Due to their location inside a Canadian Provincial Park, they are the only campgrounds within the Provincial Park system. In parks where pets are allowed (not all British Columbia Provincial Parks permit domestic pets), dogs on a leash are welcome in the campgrounds.
