Part of the Los Padres National Forest, Pfeiffer Beach is located in the heart of Big Sur off Sycamore Canyon Road. It is a day use area, no overnight camping. Open daily, from sunrise to sunset, year-round. The turn-off for the beach is located on Highway 1, approximately one mile south of Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park’s entrance. Heading south from the State Park entrance, it is the second right turn. The beach is not a California State Park and charges a separate entrance fee. Directions: Highway 1 to Sycamore Canyon Road. The road is difficult to see. It is in between the Big Sur Ranger Station and the Post Office. The walk from the parking lot is about 4-5 minutes. The path is sandy and flat and leads you straight onto the beach. Dogs on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed on the beach.
