At Canaveral National Seashore, pets on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed into the park along the lagoon side and other off beach areas. Pets are not allowed on the beach or the boardwalks. Located between New Smyrna Beach and Titusville, Florida, the park contains nearly 58,000 acres of barrier island, open lagoon, coastal hammock, pine flatwoods, and offshore waters. With 24 miles of pristine beach, it is prime habitat for many threatened and endangered species providing nesting beaches for several thousand protected marine turtles. Two thirds of the park is in Mosquito Lagoon. Pets are allowed on the lagoon-side (Turtle Mound, Eldora, Seminole Rest, Eddy Creek) of the park, on trails, multi-use paths, or on the park roads. Pets are prohibited from the western edge of the dune line, east to including the boardwalks and the beach, and from the Seminole Rest (25 acre) area.
