Badlands National Park Campgrounds include two campgrounds open year-round: Cedar Pass Campground and Sage Creek Campground. Cedar Pass Campground has 96 level sites with scenic views of the badlands and is located near the Ben Reifel Visitor Center. Sage Creek Campground is a free, first-come first-serve campground with 22 sites located on Sage Creek Rim Road, an unpaved road that may temporarily close after winter storms and spring rains. This campground offers a rustic camping experience with no water available onsite. The area has accessible vault toilets, although the terrain in and around the campground is rough. Due to fire danger, campfires are not permitted in either campground; however, camp stoves or contained charcoal grills can be used in campgrounds and picnic areas. Pets on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed in the campgrounds and picnic areas, and other areas open to motor vehicles, such as gravel and paved roadways, roadway corridors, and parking lots. Pets are prohibited from hiking trails, public buildings (i.e. visitor centers), and backcountry areas, including the Badlands Wilderness Area and areas with prairie dog colonies.
