Camping is available only in the Maryland portion of Assateague Island National Seashore. Pets on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed in the campgrounds, but are not permitted in all backcountry campsites, on nature trails, lifeguard-protected beach, north of the State Park to the Ocean City inlet, and the entire Virginia portion of Assateague Island.
