The Austrian Airlines pet policy is as follows:
From 1 March 2021, Austrian Airlines will only accept trained assistance dogs in the cabin. Emotional support dogs will no longer be classified as assistance dogs.
Small dogs and cats are accepted in the aircraft cabin if the combined weight with carrier does not exceed 17 lbs (8 kg).
Larger animals are accepted in the cargo hold.
In the following countries animals may only be imported as cargo: United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, Hong Kong and South Africa.
Taking a pet to a foreign country involves preparation and planning far in advance of your departure date. Requirements for pet travel to a foreign country are set by the destination country. If you are you traveling to another country and bringing along your pet you’ll need to meet the animal health requirements of the country you are visiting.
