JFK Airport Terminal 8 pet relief areas are located inside and outside the terminal. There is a service animal/pet relief area post-security at Gate 38. In addition, American Airlines has installed a Pet Relief Area at the terminal’s departures level, middle island. The area is a 30 feet by 50 feet enclosure, including a 1,000-square-foot patch of natural grass. It has a five-foot wide entrance gate, a walkway and two benches. A “Mutt Mitt” dispenser is provided, together with a trash barrel at the gate for waste disposal. A bright red fire hydrant stands at the far end of the grassy area. From Baggage Claim, exit the terminal near the Travelers Aid desk. Cross the roadway and follow the red parking sign. The grassy area is to the right. From ticket counters, exit through Doorway F. Cross inner roadway to the center island. The area is to the right. Passengers should contact their airlines for specific policies and fares for transporting pets in cargo or for traveling with a pet or service animal. Passengers should contact TSA for information on security screening for a pet or service animal.
