Saugeen Shores Beaches are located on the shores of Lake Huron in Southwestern Ontario, and consist of the towns of Port Elgin, Southampton and Saugeen Township. On November 13, 2023, Council passed a by-law updating the permitted areas for dogs on waterfront areas within the Town of Saugeen Shores. Dogs are not permitted on beaches between May 1st and October 1st, except in the following locations:
• Saugeen River Mouth to High Street flagpole (from 6:00 pm to 9:00 am only).
• 538 Izzard Road to Concession 6/Bruce Road 25 (from 6:00 pm to 9:00 am only).
• North end of Eckford Avenue to Saugeen River mouth (at any time of day).
• 28 Miramichi Bay Road to Elgin Street beach access (at any time of day).
Dogs are permitted to swim within the designated dog areas; when dogs are not swimming, they must be on a leash.
