Located at 23960 Ruggles Road, South Haven, MI 49090, Van Buren State Park is situated on the shores of Lake Michigan, with 1 mile of sandy beach, high dune formations and a modern campground. The day-use area offers a designated swim area, picnic tables and grills, a picnic shelter and two modern restroom buildings. Dogs on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed along the entire length of the Lake Michigan shoreline (except for the buoyed swim area). A pet-friendly beach area is located south of the buoyed swim area – can be accessed via the dog beach access trails just west of the picnic shelter. The remaining shoreline – located north of the buoyed swim area – can only be accessed via the main “beach walk” located just west of the middle parking lot.
