Peterson Road Beach is located at the end of Peterson Road in the southern part of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, near the intersection of M-22 and Deadstream Road. It is a secluded Lake Michigan beach with wide vistas of Empire Bluff to the north and Platte River Point to the south. It has a boardwalk crossing the low dunes from the parking lot to the beach. Directions: Drive M-22 to Peterson Road. This road is about 1/2 mile north of Lake Michigan Road where M-22 crosses the Platte River. Peterson Road (gravel) is on the west side of M-22 and Deadstream Road is on the east side. Drive about a mile to the end of the road and you will be at the beach. Dogs on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed to the left of the boardwalk (as you approach the beach). No pets are allowed to the right of the boardwalk.
