Boston Common (also known as the Common) is a central public park in downtown Boston. Dating from 1634, it is the oldest city park in the United States. Dogs are only allowed off-leash in designated, unfenced areas of the Common from 6 A.M. to 11 P.M. except during special events. Dogs on a leash no longer than 8 feet are allowed in the rest of the Common at all other times.
