Kill Devil Hills Town Beaches are located in the most populous settlement in both Dare County and on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Many beach accesses provide ample parking, showers, and restrooms. The town is home to the site of the Wright brothers’ first controlled, powered airplane flights on December 17, 1903, and was commemorated by the Wright Brothers National Memorial, which was dedicated in 1932. From Memorial Day to Labor Day of each year, dogs are only allowed on the beach before 9:00 a.m. and after 6:00 p.m. At all other times, dogs are allowed on the public beach, but must be kept on a leash.
