Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness Area is a National Wilderness Area within the Manistee National Forest. Located north of Ludington, Michigan, it encompasses almost 3,500 acres between Ludington and Manistee, with 4 miles of undeveloped shoreline. It is the only congressionally designed wilderness area located along the Lake Michigan shoreline in Michigan’s lower peninsula. No dogs allowed on the swimming beach, but leashed dogs are allowed on the rest of the area.
