Hendricks Head Beach is a long, sandy beach owned and managed by the town of Southport. Dogs are allowed off-leash on the beach at any time with voice control and a leash on hand. Hendricks Head Hiking Trail is a short walk adjacent to the beach; dog walking is permitted on the trail. Directions to the hiking trail and beach: From the roundabout in Boothbay Center, take the first exit onto Corey Lane. Continue straight onto Lakeside Drive for 2.1 miles. Turn right onto ME-27 S and drive 2.6 miles crossing the swing bridge onto Southport Island and continuing past the Southport Central school. Turn right onto Dogfish Head Road and drive roughly 240 feet. Then turn left onto Beach Road, travel 0.4 miles. The hiking trail will be on your right-hand side, parking for the trail and access to the beach will be on your left-hand side.
