Pet Relief Areas at Airports in Canada

Find pet and service animal relief areas at Canadian airports.

In 2016 Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in British Columbia established Canada’s first in-terminal pet relief area, giving four-footed passengers a chance to make that always important pre-flight comfort stop. Located post-security in the gate area of YVR’s US Terminal, the facility provides passengers with service or companion dogs, including travelers with reduced mobility, easy access. The only other post-security animal relief area is located at Calgary International Airport (YYC) in Alberta.

ALBERTA

Calgary: Calgary International Airport (YYC)
Dog relief areas are available outside of the terminal buildings. There are three areas located on the Arrivals Level outside Door 1, Door 9 and Door 17. YYC Calgary International Airport is one of the first airports in Canada to have an in-terminal pet relief area, which opened at the beginning of April. The area is located post-security in Concourse B adjacent to Gate B34 in the Domestic Terminal Building. Located at the Calgary International Airport (YYC), International Animal Lounge (IAL) manages overnight accommodations for pets, competition horses, and other large and small animals traveling by plane at YYC.

Edmonton:Edmonton International Airport (YEG)
Edmonton International Airport offers pet relief areas outside of Arrivals Level 1: just outside of door 10 to the south; outside the north-west corner of the Easy Parkade (near metered parking and Rendez-vous) across from door 3; and just outside of door 1 to the north.

Fort McMurray: Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM)
There is a pet relief area located at the outdoor courtyard. The courtyard is equipped with plastic animal waste collections bags and disposal units.

BRITISH COLUMBIA

Comox: Comox Valley Airport (YQQ)
The Comox Valley Airport has a designated grassy pet relief area outside the terminal.

Kelowna: Kelowna International Airport (YLW)
At YLW, a relieving area for pets has been designated in the landscaping to the right of the Arrivals exit doors.

Sidney: Victoria International Airport (YYJ)
Victoria International Airport has two designated pet relief areas on the grass berm located directly across from the air terminal building. These areas are equipped with waste bags and receptacles.

Vancouver: Vancouver International Airport (YVR)
Vancouver Airport's pet relief area is located within the post-security area of the U.S. Departures Terminal, post-security near gate 76 and 77. The room is complete with artificial grass, touchless entry, and lowered counters for individuals using wheelchairs, and features a large interior for ease of maneuverability. There is also a dog relief area outside International Arrivals at the entrance to Chester Johnson Park.

MANITOBA

Winnipeg: Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG)
The Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport has a designated animal relief area just outside Door #3 on the Arrivals Level. Turn right on exiting the Terminal Building and follow the sidewalk to the green space.

NEW BRUNSWICK

Lincoln: Fredericton International Airport (YFC)
Fredericton International Airport has a designated animal relief area outside near the Arrivals exit.

Moncton: Greater Moncton International Airport (YQM)
Greater Moncton International Airport has no designated animal relief area, however, there is ample grassed area adjacent to the terminal building suitable for service animals.

NORTHWEST TERRITORIES

Yellowknife: Yellowknife Airport (YZF)
Yellowknife Airport has a designated animal relief area located outside the main terminal across the street from the revolving door at the Departure area.

NOVA SCOTIA

Halifax: Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ)
There is a designated animal relief area located outside the terminal building, beside the parkade. To access the area, take the centre tunnel exit which is located near security/lost and found.

ONTARIO

Ottawa: Ottawa International Airport (YOW)
There is a designated pet relief area located across the street from the passenger terminal (level 1) near the south end of the parkade. The area is clearly marked and plastic bags and garbage containers are available for disposing of waste.

Toronto: Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)
Pet Zones (pet relief areas) at Terminals 1 and 3 provide a comfortable space for dogs to relieve themselves. Locations: Terminal 1 Departures level: exit curbside doors at Aisle 15 and turn right; Terminal 1 ground level: exit curbside door S and turn right; and Terminal 3 Arrivals level: exit curbside door A and turn left. All locations are before security.

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND

Charlottetown: Charlottetown Airport (YYG)
Charlottetown Airport has no specific areas designated as animal relief areas, however, there are various grass areas located directly outside the Airport Terminal Building.

QUEBEC

Montreal: Montréal-Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport (YUL)
The Montréal-Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport has a pet relief area located outside the terminal building, near the multi-level parking facility.

Quebec City: Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB)
Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport has no designated animal relief areas, however, there is a grass areas located near the general parking area of the Airport Terminal Building.

SASKATCHEWAN

Saskatoon: Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport (YXE)
Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport has no designated animal relief area, however, there are various grass areas located outside and to the right at the Airport Terminal Building.

YUKON

Government of Yukon: Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport (YXY)
There are two designated animal relief areas: one is the grassy area on the south side of the Airport Terminal Building and the second is the gravel area on the west side of the parking lot.
